Toastmasters Benefits
Everyone needs Toastmasters
Our face-to-face, experiential learning program benefits skilled professionals and beginning speakers alike. So, whether you're speaking to your staff, your co-workers, or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better.
At Toastmasters you'll learn to relax, plan, and present a terrific speech, whether you have 10 days to prepare - or just 10 seconds. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are - to become better communicators.

Everybody talks
At a Toastmasters meeting everybody talks - that's why you're there!
You'll build "quick thinking" skills as you present a one-to two-minute impromptu speech during Table Topics.
At a later meeting you may be the one asking the Table Topics questions!
Soon after, you'll introduce speakers, give prepared speeches, conduct the meeting, and perform many other roles.

How do I improve?
You'll improve just by speaking regularly.
But the key to the Toastmasters learn-by-doing program is constructive evaluation. An assigned evaluator will point out your presentation's strengths and offer suggestions for improving your next speech.
At first you'll be recognized for your effort; later you'll be recognized for your skills.

Toastmasters and Leadership.
Leadership cannot be learned in a day. It takes practice. In Toastmasters members build leadership skills by organizing and conducting meetings and motivating others to help them. Club leadership roles and a leadership development program also offer opportunities to learn and practice. Just as Toastmasters members learn to speak simply by speaking, they learn leadership by leading.

Company Benefits
A company's success also depends on communication.
Employees face an endless exchange of ideas, messages, and information as they deal with one another and with customers day after day.
How well they communicate can determine whether a company quickly grows into an industry leader or joins thousands of other businesses mired in mediocrity.

Toastmasters provide the tools that enable employees to become effective communicators and leaders - all at a very low cost.
Toastmasters training help employees:

give better sales presentations
hone their management skills
work better with fellow employees
effectively develop and present ideas
offer constructive criticism
accept criticism more objectively
Toastmasters produce results. Around the world more than three million men and women of all ages and occupations have benefited from Toastmaters training, and more than one thousand corporation, community groups, universities, associations, and government agencies now use Toastmasters training.

Community Benefits
Toastmasters has helped many members in their community service activities. Using the speaking and leadership skills developed in Toastmasters, people have become more active in business, churches, and service and charity organizations.
Toastmasters members are able to organize activities, conduct meetings, and speak in public as their organizations' representative. Some even become active in local, state or national government.

Mentorship Programme
In order to help new members become active in the Club quickly, Hong Kong Toastmasters Club has adopted a Mentorship Programme. New members are assigned a mentor when they join the club. The mentor is an experienced member of the Club who acts as an advisor, a coach and a confidant to his or her mentee. We believe that new members will definitely settle in faster and enjoy their membership in more if they receive the support of the experienced members.

Essentially the mentor's role is to:

1. offer knowledge, insight, perspective, or wisdom useful to the mentee in settling in as a new member and in starting an exciting journey of making speeches in front of people;

2. sit with new members and brief them about the Club's customs and procedures;

3. explain how the new members can sign up for speeches, and offer assistance in preparing speeches, especially with the Ice Breaker speech --- the FIRST speech!

4. make members aware of the available resources, provide positive feedback to their speeches before and afterwards;

5. explain what responsibilities they have to the Club and help with assignments given to them;

6. explain the duties of the officers and encourage new members to take up official duties in the Club.
