Mah shows who’s the master

CRITICAL thinking skills definitely set him apart and enabled him to outshine the others. It was no surprise when Mah Ting Keong, a principal consultant of TK EHS Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd, walked away with the Table Topic contest (impromptu speech) title.

In a blink of an eye, Mah, 49, provided a solid answer coupled with his lively performance when asked “How Has Advertisement In-fluenced You?”

“This is a surprise win. Anyway I gave my best shot when thrown the question,” said Mah, one of the founders of Bayan Baru Toastmas-ters Club in Penang

Coming in second and third were insurance company manager Ong Swee Keat and factory executive Erica Chan respectively.

Mah attributed the win to his ability in putting a speech in an or- ganised manner within a short time.

A total of 10 participants from the club contested in two categories – international speech and table topics (impromptu speech).

The international speech title went to freelance trainer Michael Xavier, who was clearly in his element expressing himself on AIDs related issues titled ‘Let’s face it’.

In his speech, he urged the floor not to stigmatise Malaysians with HIV/AIDs, but show support and care for them.

“I think fluency in my speech helped me to win,” he said.

Insurance company manager Ong Swee Keat and PDC pro- perty division manager Margaret Chan finished second and third re-spectively.
